This Cheese Garlic Bread Recipe Uses a Refrigerated Pizza Crust for an Easy Shortcut

I like cooking and baking. Nothing is more satisfying than having a day when I can bake a loaf of bread from scratch to serve with my family’s dinner. But, let’s face it. We cannot always take the time necessary to cook as we want in the kitchen.

Luckily, this cheesy garlic bread recipe uses a nifty shortcut to allow cooks to serve up something “homemade” without taking hours to prepare.

The secret to this cheesy garlic bread comes from opening a box of refrigerated pizza crust, according to Laurie at Passionate Penny Pincher. It’s true! Most of the hard work is already done for you with this delicious bread.

In her recipe post, Laurie said this quick flatbread recipe was approved by her husband, who said it could be served as an appetizer when dining out. I quite like this idea!

This corny Garlic bread only requires six ingredients and most of them are fridge or pantry staples. So you might be able to whip up a batch tonight! Here is what you will need.

  • Refrigerated Thin Pizza Dough (Pillsbury)
  • Butter
  • Dried basil
  • Chopped garlic
  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • Grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (optional)

You will also need a large hob to make the cheesy garlic bread (the 15 x 10 x 1 inch format is recommended).

Besides the refrigerated pizza crust shortcut, I love the adaptability of this recipe. You can exchange different cheeses to your family’s taste, or add other spices or flavors to mix things up. For example, add pepperoni or put hot pepper flakes on top.

No matter how you make this garlic and cheese bread, it takes less than 20 minutes to make and then bake. I think it’s a great last minute accompaniment to salads or pasta dishes that will enhance your meal.
