Not so long ago, Singapore Duc bakery was in the process of setting up its first location in the United States, right in the heart of Rowland Heights. It was March, and since then the popular overseas brand has been hungry for expansion, including a new outpost heading to this glendale glendale beacon of American prosperity Americana in Brand.

The upcoming addition should make an interesting new tenant at the high-chain Americana (there is also a new Lemonade coming out this way), offering unique interpretations of a variety of styles, from French breads to Japanese desserts. There are fermented pineapple and nut baguettes, deep chocolate breads, and slices of toast meant to mimic all the flavors of a pizza. Odd? Yes. Delicious? Probably. But an Americana crisis? Difficult to say at the moment.

There is no official timeline for Duke Bakery’s arrival at Glendale, although with their current pace it shouldn’t take long. Consider this: Duke didn’t exist until 2013, but to date they have 19 locations in Singapore, China, and the US – one in Rowland Heights and one in Arcadia. Glendale would make three stops in the United States, all in Southern California, and 20 in total for the brand.

Talk about going fast.
