If you’re missing cheese bread on the keto diet, you * must * make this recipe. And the over 80,000 people who liked it on TikTok agree with me on that point.

I first came across this keto-friendly “bread stick” recipe from Instrupix while browsing Pinterest. I wanted a cheese dish that would be quick and easy to make, while still allowing me to stay in ketosis, and this one fit the bill. It only requires four ingredients: two types of cheese, an egg, and garlic powder. Even better? It meets in less than 20 minutes.

When I first made this garlic cheese “bread”, I recorded the process and shared it on TikTok. I had no idea the video would hit over a million views, but I wasn’t surprised either. This is one of those low carb recipes that really tastes like the real thing. And, although the recipe does not have a flour base, the cheese mixture forms a texture that is about as similar to bread as the bighead dough, a dough alternative made from almond flour, cheese and egg which is popular in the keto community.

A few things to know before trying to make the recipe yourself: The quality of the cheese matters, of course, which means you should try using freshly grated Parmesan and mozzarella cheese. However, the first time I cooked it I created it with the cheapest ingredients I could find, so you don’t have to spend your budget to make it a successful dish.

I also made the recipe with one egg and with two. I prefer one egg, although some people on TikTok have shared that two eggs make bread softer. I suggest trying it first with an egg (that’s what the original recipe calls for) and then when you remake there – and I’m sure you will – you can try two eggs to see which one you prefer. Keto cheese "Bread" Recipe

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
    1 cup of grated Parmesan
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon of garlic powder

instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a cake tin with baking paper. A bread pan is best, but a baking sheet can also work.
  2. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together.
  3. Place the mixture on your parchment paper and flatten it using a fork or your hands. If you don’t have baking paper, you can also use aluminum foil.
  4. Bake for about 15 minutes, then switch the oven to grill and brown the cheese a little.
  5. Slice and serve with your choice of dip. (I love Rao’s pizza sauce.)
