Helen Ann Kemp, 89, of South Haven, died Friday, June 3, 2022. Helen was born April 30, 1933, in South Haven as the only child of Fred and Sophie (Ott) Fritsche.
Helen was a graduate of South Haven High School. Helen was actively involved in 4H as a “leader” and, being very meticulous, instilled a good work ethic in many people. She was also an avid rider and member of the Saddle Club, who preferred the English style of riding on her horses American Saddlebred Blue and Melody. She also had a fondness for her dogs Bella and Polly, offering daily rides on the Kubota in the woods as a form of exercise. Helen was an avid gardener and the farm gardens were previously part of the South Haven Garden tour. She was proud to know the different bird calls of the many feathered friends who visited the farm’s bird feeders. Helen was an extraordinarily thoughtful, caring, generous and hardworking woman. Many received German treats at Christmas, loaves of bread and fruit and vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed growing tomatoes in her greenhouse and sharing with community members. Virtually everyone she interacted with on a regular basis in her life became dear friends.
