- In a bowl, combine sugar, shortening, eggs, vanilla and bananas. Beat until well blended.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Slowly pour the flour mixture into the banana mixture 1 cup at a time and beat until creamy.
- Add nuts.
- Pour the mixture into a buttered mold 9 x 5 inch loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Leave to cool a bit before unmolding. Serve hot.
