Easy cloud bread recipe


Cloud bread is one of the latest baking trends you need to get involved with. Recipe developer Ting Dalton from Simply cook came with its own version of the bread, which is sure to be a new favorite for many reasons. Dalton explains why she chose to make this bread, and it all started on TikTok. “There’s a viral TikTok version of large, pastel-colored breads that are sweet, but are they great for meals? Not really. This savory version is easy to make and makes a great snack or alternative to bread,” says Dalton . She adds that it’s called cloud bread because it’s carb-free, which is perfect for people on the Atkins diet or those trying to cut down on gluten.

By the way, this bread also has a great flavor. “Very light, very mild, with a cheesy flavor and tasty from the onion and garlic powders. [It’s] really more and perfect for eating [its] “Says Dalton. Sounds good? You can serve it with vegetables on it, dip it in a soup or even make mini sandwiches with it. The possibilities are practically endless!

Gather the ingredients for this easy cloud bread

To start, you will need to gather all the necessary ingredients. You will need eggs, cream of tartar, cream cheese, Italian herb seasoning, sea salt, garlic powder and onion powder.

Once you have these, you can whip up this easy cloud bread.

Preheat the oven and separate the eggs

Like most bread recipes, this one requires the use of your oven. Preheat your oven to 300 F to get it hot. Next, line two baking sheets with parchment paper, which will prevent the bread from sticking to the baking sheets.

Now you can sear your eggs and separate the egg yolks from the egg whites, placing them in two separate bowls.

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar

For this step, you can either use a hand mixer or a stand mixer with a whisk attachment. Go ahead and add the cream of tartar to the bowl with the egg whites. Continue to mix on the high setting until you get stiff meringue peaks. Once you see the peaks forming, you can turn off the blender and set the mixture aside.

Combine cream cheese and seasonings with egg yolks

Take the bowl with the egg yolks and add the cream cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, garlic and onion powder. Beat these ingredients with a hand mixer until well blended.

“The special ingredients here are the garlic and onion powders,” shares Dalton. “It adds another depth of aromatic, punchy flavor. So much so that you can easily eat this cloud bread on its own.”

Mix the egg mixtures and pour the batter into a saucepan

Now you can incorporate the meringue mixture into the egg yolk mixture. Be sure not to deflate the meringue – you want it firm and fluffy.

Scoop ¼ cup portions of the frothy “dough” onto a baking sheet and roll out into 4-inch circles. The mixture should be about ¾ inch high. Be sure to leave space around each circle for the cloud bread to expand while baking.

Cook and enjoy

Put the cloud bread in the oven and set your timer for 15 minutes. When baked, the bread should be golden brown and firm on the outside. Be sure to let it cool for several minutes on the baking sheet before serving. It’s perfect for dipping in soup or making mini sandwiches.

“If you want to keep the cloud bread, separate the pieces with parchment paper and put [them] in an airtight container, in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days or [freezing] up to 3 months,” shares Dalton. We hope you love it as much as all the TikTokers do!
