Chrissy teigen has been a major Hollywood player for quite some time. The 35-year-old beauty rose to fame in the early 2010s as a model, appearing in magazines like the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the organization of televised competitions such as VH1 Model employee. In 2013, she married the very famous singer-songwriter John Legend (the couple had been dating since 2006), and the two have been a powerful celebrity couple ever since.
Teigen is also very good at cooking and has spent the last few years capitalizing on her talents with cookbooks, a line of dishes, and more. It’s no wonder she sent fans into a frenzy when she asked Twitterverse for an ingredient to use in her delicious banana bread!
Chrissy Teigen loves to cook
As Teigen turned her love of cooking into a lucrative brand, the mother-of-two admits that at first it was just a hobby born out of necessity. In a 2017 essay she wrote for Charm, she said:
When John and I got together, I discovered my love for cooking. On one of our first dates, I took him to Daniel’s (four dollar signs on Yelp, ahhh!). I drank a $ 40 margarita, ate salmon rillettes (salmon spread) and prayed my card would not be refused. I couldn’t afford to take her to other dinners like this so I started to cook more and more at home for us. I started with my own version of this salmon spread, then roasted whole branzino, osso buco, chipotle BBQ chicken. When my first cookbook came out, I finally felt proud of my work.
This cookbook, Cravings: Recipes for all the foods you want to eat, was released in 2016. Two years later, she published a second cookbook titled Cravings: hungry for more, and also launched a kitchen and tableware line for Target called Cravings by Chrissy Teigen. In 2019, the Lip sync battle co-host has launched a website of the same name, featuring recipes, cooking tips, how-to videos, restaurant guides, and more. When presenting her new site, Teigen said:
âThis is my new baby, I spent a ton (and I mean a ton) of time getting ready for you (I had a lot of homework !!). There was a lot of testing and tasting and testing and tastingâ¦ and testing and tasting to make sure these recipes are â#goalsssss Cravings.â Don’t worry, I made it all pretty but not too perfect (cause let’s be honest sometimes tasty = messy !!). â
Banana Bread Twitter Frenzy
So what was the big banana bread uproar? In 2017, Teigen made a simple request that caused havoc on Twitter. Realizing that she was running out of an ingredient needed for her recipe, the model tweeted: “If you have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area, I’ll send my assistant to your house with a signed cookbook, John’s underwear, and a Becca palette.”
Within minutes, Teigen was inundated with responses. At first, she was getting tons of tips for browning bananas, so the queen of kitchens clarified:
âOkay, this banana thing is getting ridiculous. don’t tell me your tips for browning bananas. justâ¦ if you have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area lmk.
Teigen even added criteria to the “submissions” so she knew they were genuine:
“SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. please send me a picture of you holding the bananas, making the peace sign.
Teigen obviously enjoyed having this impromptu Twitter query service, because three years later she tried again! Back in March 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, the master baker offered to trade it delicious banana bread for lettuce.
âI’ll make banana bread for anyone with romaine lettuce. The trade will be done 6 feet from each other and we will place the merchandise upstairs. no funny business.
Talk about coming full circle!
Chrissy Teigen Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients (makes 12 servings)
- 2 cups mashed ripe bananas
- 4 eggs
- 2/3 cups canola oil, plus a little more to grease the pan
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus a little more to dust the pan
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 can (3.5 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1Â½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup unsweetened grated coconut
- 1 bar of dark chocolate (3.5 ounces), cut into pieces
- Salted butter, for serving
- Heat the oven to 325 Â° F.
- Combine the mashed bananas, eggs and oil in a large bowl
- In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, pudding mix, baking soda and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well.
- Stir in the coconut and chocolate pieces.
- Butter and flour a Bundt pan, then pour in the dough.
- Bake 60 to 80 minutes. (After about 50 minutes insert a toothpick into the bread – if the toothpick comes out clean, it’s done!
- Let cool in the pan, then turn the bread onto a plate.
- Cut it into slices, reheat if necessary and serve with salted butter!
