A new restaurant is on its way to Hyde Park, moving into a space that used to be a two-story food court.

According to a few sources, including a post from Adam Gaffin of Universal Hub, Park 54 plans to open in the former Fairmount Grille space on Fairmount Avenue, with the upcoming restaurant’s website indicating the following:

“Park 54” is inspired by the life and service of the men who served in the 54th Regiment – a volunteer infantry made up of free black American soldiers. The regiment was established in Readsville, MA, now known as “Hyde Park”. Despite the backlash the men received for fighting in a “White Men’s War,” each of them courageously risked their lives for the freedom and betterment of their families, communities and countries. Our mission is to carry on the historic legacy of the 54th Regiment by creating a haven of peace in which our beloved community of Hyde Park and neighboring towns can experience the freedom, happiness, and fullness of self-expression for which the 54th Regiment fought. Our intention is to accomplish this by offering great food, innovative libations, incredible music, fascinating historical artifacts and a welcoming ambience!

The people behind Park 54 are co-owners Tasha Hull and Andre Walker, Sr., as well as Managing Partner Shawn Hunter (Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen, Slade’s Bar and Grill).

Fairmount Grill closed in 2019 after being in business for approximately six years; the space had also housed Townsends.
